There are only three rules

10 minutes long, live on stage,
and it must be true.

A storytelling series born in Portsmouth

Long Story Short was founded in 2015 as a live storytelling series aimed at featuring both professional and non-professional storytellers and performers from across New England. Hosted by Beth LaMontagne Hall, the live shows are held quarterly at 3S Artspace in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

In 2020, Beth launched the Long Story Short podcast using audio recorded from live shows, and later recording new stories and interviews while live shows were on hiatus because of COVID-19 restrictions.

Long Story Short’s mission is to help create stronger community connections through storytelling and to provide opportunities for people who want to better their storytelling skills, whether it be for the stage or to advocate for a cause.

Advisory Board

This show would not be possible without the help of others. The Long Story Short Advisory Board provides guidance and assistance throughout the year in developing the event and expanding the podcast’s reach.
